Friday Favorites - Oh, the joy of all the new Fall/Winter running gear!

Here comes trouble! Most of the companies selling running gear are getting their Fall/Winter 11/12 gear out there for us 'addicts' to drool over. A quick selection of my favorites (so far ;)):

Nike
1. Love the fun print on this long sleeve!

For sale here. Retails at $70.

2. Not too sure about the 'flattering' shape of these babies (part of me knows that even Leann Rimes will look like a hippo in these capris), but I kind of like them for not being the usual all black!

For sale here. Retails at $55.

Brooks

1. 'Run Happy'...need I say more?

For sale here. Retails at $32. $25.95 at www.runningwarehouse.com.

2. It's pink. And will keep my ears from freezing off. Sounds like a solid investment.

For sale here. Retails at $24. $19.95 at www. runningwarehouse.com.

Saucony
1. Their ViziPro tights are amazing! They provide that much needed bit of extra safety on early morning and evening runs!

For sale here. Retails at $65. $51.95 at www.runningwarehouse.com.

Salomon

1. If you only plan on buying one item of running gear this Fall, make sure it's this one. This jacket is worth the money. Trust me!

For sale here. Retails at $100. $74.88 at www.runningwarehouse.com.

Runningskirts

The new Runningskirts line (Fall/Winter '11/'12) is scheduled to be available in September. Check their Facebook page for a sneak peek of the new line. The new prints are adorable!

To all the European skirthusiasts: you can also order through their Dutch agent: http://www.hiphardlopen.nl/!

Redhead's delight - Moeben UV protective arm sleeves

I seriously believed that Runningskirts.com was the one and only love of my love.

But...along came Moeben. And their UV protective clothing. And now...Moeben has turned me into a polygamist (yup). Moeben is right up there with the Runningskirts.com skirts.

UV baby!

However, when this summery sun is out, I'm sticking with Moeben. I'm a natural redhead, and blessed with some seriously freckled and pale skin. Sunburn is my middle name. I literally had the sun leave me with blistered shoulders on several occasions. And yes, I do apply sunscreen. Apparently 'just sunscreen' won't cut it for this girl. Sigh... Sometimes I really do wish that I was born resembling one of those tanned surfer chicks... I'll just have to learn to live with that...

A little while ago Moeben hooked me up with a pair of their arm sleeves (among other things - seriously...amazing customer service!). In summer. Hmmmm... And this girl sweats a lot. Did not sound like a great plan to head out wearing arm sleeves... But...I caved and did try them on. In some seriously hot summer weather. And I was surpised to find that I did not feel the need to push them down to my wrists. Not even after 25 miles. And...no sunburn. At all! Halle-bleepin-lujah!

Ergo: I won't go out in sunny weather without these babies. I care about my freckled skin just a tad bit too much! And so should you! :)

Skirtastic

As for their skirts: comfy. Very comfy. Enough said. :)

Moeben skirts are a bit shorter than the runningskirts.com ones... Enough said.

Those arm sleeves are a life saver!

Bonus: Moeben has amazing customer service. And I like that. :)

Race photos 101 - How to mess up race photos by showing too much flesh

Last Sunday. A local ladiesrun. 5K. Considering the whole hassle with The Shin and the bone scan episode (and taking 2 weeks off from running because of that (I did cycle a lot)), I had decided to make a training run (5K @ 10K pace) out of it. Turned out to be a great idea. I had a blast! :)

But I did manage to mess up yet another set of race photos. Oh yeah. I'm still on a streak here!

So, let's name this post the 'How to mess up race photos by showing too much flesh' post.

Almost there. Nothing too bad going on in this picture. You are aware of the fact that 'less is more' is not in my handbook, right? Hence, the color combo. Note to self: check mirror before leaving the house. What might look good on paper, doesn't necessarily look good on moi...

Actually not that bad. Especially since this was taken just a couple of hundred meters before the finish line. I don't look at all 'beaten up'. :) But...I AM showing a heck of a lot of flesh. Uhm...yeah...I did NOT know that it was this bad... I'm pretty sure I've flashed half the town on that 24 minute run...and there were children spectating. I'm such a bad influence...

At the finish line. Showing even more flesh. Cover it up, woman! And that bruised spot on my quad...yep...that's the result of the 'couldn't get my feet out of the toe clips on my bike speedy enough' thingie...

The stats for this 5K @ 10K pace tempo run (Yeah, I'm slow. I know. Get over it.):

Name Silly Girl Running (Oh yeah! They let me register under my blog name!)
City Utrecht
Distance 5 kilometers
Category VSEN
Overall 38 / 1389
Category 21 / 719
Pace 12,371 km/uur
Bruto 24:25
Netto 24:15

Review: Moeben running dress

This dress is something else.

No kidding.

[Warning: crappy phone pics coming up]

Abandoning skirthood?

I'm a running skirt kind of girl. Plus, it's no secret that I'm a huge fan of the runningskirts.com running skirts. However, I'm open-minded enough to try a different brand once in awhile. And - this time - I'm glad I did! (Not that I'm not a fan of the runningskirts.com products anymore: it's just that I realized that there's more great stuff out there! :)).

So, nope, I'm not abandoning skirthood. ;) But I can't promise you that I won't wear this dress on a huge portion of my long runs. :)

The fit

I send Moeben my measurements (size 2, 5'9''), and I received a size M running dress. According to the Moeben website their size M is a women's 2-4.

The fit is very baggy on me. See photos below. My waistline is somewhere underneath there. So, the first thing that came to mind after putting the dress on, was 'I should have gotten a size S or smaller'. Especially since the runningskirts.com running dress (the only dress I could compare it with) is pretty snug. (Keep reading, though!)

Told you so: crappy phone pic.

Yeah, I'm flashing my arm pit. I know. Get over it.

But...when taking the dress for a 10 mile spin (a.k.a. 6 miles on the road, followed by 4 miles of 15% incline hill work on the treadmill), the fit turned out to be ab-so-lu-te-ly perfect. For me, that is. :) I like the shirts I run in to be baggy. I don't like fabric being all icky sticky (that is a word.) around my waist. This running dress is nice and flowy. Loved the fit of it on a run in hot summer weather! :)

The dress has a little pocket on each hip. Will hold up to two Gu packets (but I suck at packing, so you might get more Gu packets into each pocket :)), and Ipod, house keys, etcetera.

Fabric

83% Polyester/17% Spandex. Plus, UV 50 protection. I like that! :) As for prints: I got the camo print. On the Moeben Facebook page I spotted several other prints.

Going commando

Well, obviously this running dress doesn't have built-in panties. I pair them with a pair of Icebreaker performance Pace Hipsters. Match made in heaven. :)

In love?

In love! This dress is everything I had hoped it to be, and more! Plus, Moeben's customer service is amazing. Truly amazing! Huge thumbs up for Moeben!!!

Deco my Eco - Eco-friendly running gear

How eco-friendly are you? Where do you draw the line? What's one thing you wouldn't trade for an eco-friendly alternative?

Well, that thing doesn't have to be cute running gear. At least, in my book it doesn't. Last night I spent some time on the internet researching eco-friendly running gear. And guess what? There's a lot of cute stuff out there! Here's a list of great websites to check out!

Gaiam: Mainly Yoga gear, but they have some shirts/shorts/tights that look like they could be great for running.

Atayne: Short/long sleeves only (at least, I couldn't find bottoms on the website). For example: shirts made from 100% recycled water bottles. I like that idea!

Patagonia: I blogged about their running dresses a couple of weeks ago here. Patagonia is known for its eco-friendly products and has high quality cute-looking gear!

Lululemon: Has some eco-friendly running products. Check the product specs to find out whether or not the product you like is eco-friendly.

Golite: Nice looking website and their running gear looks great! I love the colors on their Tilly Jane Run Skirt.

Moving Comfort: Has some eco-friendly running products. For example, an eco-friendly running skirt. Check the product specs to find out whether or not the product you like is eco-friendly.

Moeben: Has an eco-friendly line. Their bamboo arm sleeves are beyond cute. Hard to find online retailers that have a wide selection of Moeben products, and ship to the Netherlands. :( Especially since I would so love to try out the Moeben shirts and dresses.

Rei: Has an eco-friendly 'tab' on their website that shows you the eco-friendly products on their website.

Do you have any websites/companies to add to this list? Please share!

Something different - Patagonia running gear

The North Face, Salomon Running, Runningskirts.com and Nike - my running gear of choice. Can't go wrong with these brands. Although, I'm not a huge fan of Nike tees and long sleeves. On the other hand, I hopped around in their Tempo running shorts for most of this winter (over long tights...obviously).

I'm pretty loyal to the brands I love. As soon as I've found something I like, I'll hang on to it for dear life. Simple as that.
However...a girl can always add brands to the list, right? Yup, she can. :)

Patagonia trail running gear

So, guess what I came along spending too much time on the internet last night in my search for cute non-black trail running gear:

Patagonia Women's (Trail) Running Gear

Check out that website. Seriously, do yourself a favor, and click on the link.

Why? Well...one reason to check it out is because Patagonia sells these:

Women's Draft Dress - $65 - Patagonia states 'it's one step up from running naked'. For a girl that likes to go commando in her running shorts, this might very well be heaven in a dress. (Also available in 'Storm' (grey-ish) and 'Cerise').

Women's AllWeather Dress - $55 - The Draft Dress has mesh panels, the AllWeather Dress doesn't, but it still looks perfect for hot weather runs. Also, I like the style of the dress. (Also available in Black and Red).

Of course, the running dresses aren't the only thing on the website. They have shorts, tights, vests, jackets, tees, etcetera. And although it says 'trail running' gear, you could very well use it for non-trail running - at least, in my opinion.

Let's get technical

Yep, no cotton here. All Patagonia running gear is made out of high quality technical fabric. But then again, Patagonia has been in the outdoor clothing and outdoor gear business for years. They know which fabrics work when you're out there on the trails. :)

I just love the fact that Outdoor brands like The North Face, Salomon and Patagonia are using their expertise to create high quality running gear. Thumbs up! :)

Now...if I could just find a retailer that is willing to ship that Draft Dress to the Netherlands for me to try it out. ;)

Another marathon, another outfit

Weird.

My body is supposed to be in taper mode / carb loading mode, but it sure feels like it's still in recovery mode / eating greasy food mode.

Hmmmm... Two marathons in 15 days. Paris Marathon was 1 1/2 weeks ago, and I have the Utrecht Marathon planned in 5 days (great thinking Silly Girl, great thinking). Fingers crossed that I can make it to the start and finish line in one piece. Weather forecast? By the looks of it it could very well turn out to be Paris #2: 24 degrees Celsius / 75 degrees Fahrenheit + sunny (and the sun is already pretty hot...and it's only April). Add a late 10:30 AM start to that, and this girl knows that she is not going to PR on this one. ;) I would be lucky to finish the thing without a heat stroke.

Yep. Another marathon, another outfit.

And since I did obediently follow your advice on the Paris Marathon outfit (well...with results being 50/50, I just combined the two options)... There we go again! ;)

A.

The 'sarcasm' outfit, since I'm nowhere near as fast as a cheetah. Ha!

B.

The 'I'm actually quite nice and sweet and girly' outfit. Or the 'fool them' outfit. ;)

Well, voting is on! Just make sure not to make it 50/50 this time. ;) I couldn't combine these two. ;)

Three Things Thursday

1. Cupcake Marathon: The Cupcake Marathon participants are seriously running there butts off to get their miles in! Amazing job, you guys! :)

2. Running dress: Isn't this the cutest thing out there? Seriously, this running dress looks so much better than other running dresses out there (no offense, this is just my opinion...and we all know what that's worth...). Brand? Runningskirts.com. I'm in love.

3. Paris Marathon: Change of plans. I'd originally planned on dressing up as a superheroine. Most of you voted for the Robin outfit. Well....I'm letting go of the idea of dressing up as a superhero. Why? Well...in all honesty, I don't really consider myself as superhero material. Emz on the other hand would 100% qualify as superhero material (Uhm...24-hour treadmill run? Enough said.). Then again, I would 100% qualify as 'Queen of messing up race photos' material. It's Queen of something, right?
So...as for the outfit, I'm seriously considering dressing up as a Bonbon / Fancy chocolate. Because chocolate and moi are as tight as Paris Hilton and her purse dogs. And since I'm not planning on setting any speed records (even if I did plan on setting any, well...I'm not even filling in the blanks.). Fingers crossed that Runningskirts will deliver me the much needed Choco Fleurs skirt (to complete the outfit) in time! :) Any outfit ideas are more than welcome.

Three Things Thursday

1. Skirts, skirts, skirts: Runningskirts.com skirts are a life saver in my book: no more chaffing! However, for July's (ultra)marathon, I would like to try a skirt that's a bit more airy and roomy. I've been hearing great things about Moeben skirts for ultra running, but have never tried their skirts.

I think this model is pretty cute:

Has any of you tried a Moeben skirt before? If so: comfortable? And how about the fit? I'm not too sure about the size. A small is a size 1-2 and a medium a size 2-4. How does this convert to runningskirts.com skirt size? (I'm a 1 in the running skirts)

2. Boston: I know the entire blogger's community is blogging and FB-ing (is that even a word?) about it, but still I feel the need to jump on this train. Yep, Boston has changed their qualifying times. Read the announcement: here. I would love to qualify for Boston, and was just getting used to the idea of having to train for a 3:40 full marathon. With the new qualifying times I'd have to run a 3:35 and would still not know for certain if I'd get in or not. And there's where Negative Nancy comes in: am I (what I mean: is this body) capable of running a 3:35 full marathon? It seems incredibly fast for slow me. Thoughts?

3. Happy Birthday to....ME!: My birthday is this Saturday! :) And nope, I'm not telling you how many candles my cake will have on it. ;) In the last couple of weeks friends and family have been asking me what's on my 'wish list'. I've been trying to figure out what I'd really love to have as a birthday present, but can't come up with anything. There is seriously not a single thing that I want/need, that I don't already have. 'Health' would be a great gift, but you can't wrap that in pretty paper, can you. :) I guess this makes me a happy girl. :)

Pace Bunny Galore

It had to be done. It just had to be done. Running buddy A needed to get herself that sub-2 Half Marathon PR. Luckily she also figured 'it has to happen', and gave herself the whole of 2011 to get that PR. Pacer Bunny Galore (a.k.a. moi) figured 'why not start off the year right' - mid February would be perfect for Running buddy A's first sub-2. ;)

Yesterday's race (Groet uit Schoorl Run 2011, Schoorl, The Netherlands) was where it was going to happen. One way or another. :) I figured that if I'd use this half marathon as a marathon pace training run, I could pace Running buddy A to a sub-2 while I was at it. Sounds like a plan! She would probably hate me for most of the race, but apparently that's a pace bunny's faith. ;)

The Start line

Let's just say that we were fashionably late. Hollywood Style. Due to being late, our corrals had already closed. No stress there, there were lots and lots of runners still waiting to cross the start line, so we just waggled along with the rest of them.

Miles 1-5 (1K - 8K)

Beautiful surroundings! I was having a blast! Running buddy A was pushing it, but her pace was spot on! Yeah, baby!

Miles 6-7 (9K - 11.5K)

Half way point. Still feeling great! Running buddy A was doing okay and keeping up the pace.

Miles 8-12 (12K - 19K)

Legs felt great, pace felt great (this marathon pace tempo run thing works!) took my first (and only) energy gel (Power Bar Vanilla). I sort of promised Running buddy A not to mention how she was feeling at this point (better known as 'the events of mile 8-12). Me telling her she's a rock star in my book, didn't help - at all. ;) ;) I'm pretty sure she hated my guts at this point. ;) We dropped the pace, and that helped her to feel a bit better. Luckily! :)

Miles 13 and .1 (20/21K)

The finish line was within reach! My legs, The Foot and The Calf were - surpisingly - still a-ok! Love using a race as a marathon pace run! I could have gone on for another couple of miles! Meanwhile, Running buddy A and I chicked some guys and we crossed that finish line together. :) Best thing about it: Running buddy A killed this race! She finished in 1:57:51. That's a heck of a sub-2! Plus, on the way back - in the car - she was already talking about aiming for a sub-1:55 later this year. Hello, Ms Speedy!

Race Photos 101 - How to mess up race photos two races in a row

Could you tell - by looking at me - that this photo was taken right before the finish line? Yeah, that's what I was thinking... I just need to work on my race photo skills. Again, I look like I'm just cruising along. Embarrassing at least... Now look at Running buddy A next to me: that's how a race photo is supposed to be!

I. Love. My. Newtons. Honestly, I'm ready to marry these shoes! So light!

Eyes closed - or race photo 'Silly Girl Running' style. This 'eyes closed - goofy face' look comes naturally to me - don't be jealous. ;) Running buddy A on the other hand, looks mega speedy!

Three Things Thursday

1. Running skirts for Spring: Hi, I'm Christel and I'm a running skirt addict. And I'm not ashamed to admit it. It's a healthy addiction, right? Right? I copied those two 'preview' photos for the Spring/Summer line from the runningskirts.com Facebook-page. Cute prints!

Dear Running Skirts twins, when will the new Spring/Summer line come out? Please, please let it be soon. :) Pretty please?

2. Marathon training: Marathon training is somewhat different when you're just coming back from an injury. Slowly building the miles. Not janking it to 50 miles a week in week 1 post-injury. Lots of cross training. Honestly, it's hard - mentally. I constantly feel like I'm not putting in enough miles. I know I'll have to build my mileage slowly. I know I've been hitting the bike and the pool. But still, it's hard. Plus, I'm scared sh#t of getting yet another injury. Not the easiest marathon training cycle up to date. Enough said. Any thoughts or advice on this one?

3. Throwback Thursday: Moi. 9 years old. Cross Country skiing. Very fashionable 90's headband with matching fluorescent blue tights. And those sunglasses... Who needs Prada when what you could have is a Carrera Original?
Lesson learned: you should stick to the cross country slopes, and not take your cross country skies out onto the regular skiing slopes...

2/07/2011

Race photos 101 - How to mess up race photos

1. Chat your way to the finish line. There's really no point in speeding it up. Why would you? You'll look slow: guaranteed.

Just cruising...Ladieda

2. Close your eyes and work that goofy face. And mess up your running form while you're at it.
Worst thing about this photo: the photographer actually has this photo on his website - right next to the photo search form... i.e. for everyone to see... Great. Note to self: must find way to sue photographer for using bad photos...
3. Continue to keep your eyes closed, and put some effort in trying to look like you're speed walking. Way more 'bad @ss' than trying to look like a runner.
The skirt might actually be the only 'good' thing about this photo. ;)
The Race
On a more happy note: I 'raced' (well, ran, since I used the race as a long slow distance run - 2:44 hours) 17.2 miles / 27.5K (Midwintermarathon Apeldoorn, the Netherlands) without too much pain in my left calf/left foot. It was hard not to get all excited and race this thing. I religiously kept my pace at 9:30 miles / 6 min/km. Just as the pace should be for a LSD. Not too bad. Plus, I chatted my way through those 17.2 miles / 27.5K. What a great way to end the weekend. :)

1/27/2011

Three Things Thursday

1. The Foot: I've been a good girl. At least, that's what my PT just told me. The exercises he advised me on doing: I've been doing those religiously. Everything to get my lower leg/foot going again. Plus, I've been doing extra core work.

Fingers crossed and knock on wood, but me being a good girl seems to pay off. At least, for now. I tried a short 3.8 mile/6K run last Tuesday and a short 5 mile/8K run yesterday. And The Foot seems okay-ish. There's a bit of a tired feeling going on there, but no excruciating pain yet.

For now, I'm glad I chose to listen to my Sports PT instead of to the Sports MD. :)

2. Exercise dresses: It's still freakishly cold out here, meaning I'm bundling up for evening runs, but yet I'm looking for an exercise dress. Mainly because the word is out that my favorite running brand ever (www.runningskirts.com) will add a running dress to their Spring line. I'm in love, and I haven't even seen the dress yet. An exercise dress seems like a great thing to wear to the gym. My cycling shorts will look less diaperish (is that even a word?) with a dress over it, I'm sure about that. Size wise I'm just a bit worried about my higth (5'9"): most dresses are actually shorter on me than the designer intented them to be... Any advice on the Nuu Muu dresses and tall girls? And could anyone fill me in on what the Runningskirts.com running dress will look like? I'm just being nosy, I know... ;)

3. Throwback Thursday: Moi. 2 years old, striking a pose with my beloved grandmother. I was quite the fashionasta back in the days. The way I pair that hat with the oversized bag: Louis Vuitton eat your heart out! ;) Plus, there is no way I could ever hide that I was born a redhead. :)

Silly Girl Running goes Punk - Punk Rock Racing Tech Tee review

Ran: 6.2 miles / 10K - running group + Cycling: 30 min
Huh? What happened to the runningskirts, the girly pink gear and the braids?
Nothing, absolutely nothing. Runningskirts and the braids: still there. As for the girly gear...also still there. I'm just a teeny tiny bit over the pink stuff. So, expect a lot less pink in 2011. Fortunately, there are lots and lots of other obnoxious colors out there. At the moment I'm a big fan of mixing purple, yellow and bright orange. Ha! Just so you know...
Punk Rock Racing
First step in the 'de-pinking' process is this Punk Rock Racing (http://www.punkrockracing.com/) technical tee. Most of you (well, the ones that live in the United States of America) are probably already a huge fan of their gear. However, the Punk Rock Racing brand is still pretty unknown in Europe. Well, I plan on changing that!
And guess what? Ron at Punk Rock Racing told me that I'm their first Dutch customer/fan. Ha!

Ouch! Serious devil eyes! Must remember to take photos with my camera instead of my phone to prevent future 'incidents'.

Bad phone camera pic...again. At least you get a proper idea of the tee and the obnoxious purple and yellow shorts. And, by the way, I love those shorts!

Review

I got the technical tee and their 'Runner Runner Runner' cotton tee (and a bonus beanie! :)) in the mail yesterday morning, and immediately took the technical tee for a spin on last night's 'still nursing the calf strain, but easing back into running' run.
The verdict: great technical tee! Great fit (I wear the small). Plus, absolutely OK wicking qualities (and that's what this girl needs...the way I sweat...Yeugh!). And I love the design! I truly felt like a bad *ss rock star wearing this shirt. ;)
As for the run itself...I had a huge glass of wine and half a bag of crisps before heading out. Let's just say that you won't catch me having wine and crisps as a pre run meal again anytime soon...

12/23/2010

Three Things Thursday

Ran: 4.5 miles / 7.2K + 30 min of cycling

1. With The Calf feeling slightly better I'm slowly easing back into running longer distances again. Adding miles to my runs every couple of days. The PT adviced me to add one mile at a time and to listen to The Calf. If it's painfree on a run, it's okay. If it's not, I should not add an extra mile on the next run. That it's slippery outside doesn't really help the pain, but does help strenghten my muscles.

2. Since I'm out on the road again (although not at the mileage pre calf strain yet, but still), I have completely fallen in love with Buff scarves! I already used those for skiing, but apparently they are also great for running! Great way to keep your head and neck warm in these chilly temps!

Plus, they come in great and fun colors. I love this one:

3. In my opinion the runningskirts.com twins deserve an award for their Subzero Hoody. In this winter weather I eat, sleep and live in this thing. I can't get over how comfortable this jacket is! It's soft and keeps me warm (but not too warm) on my runs. Great piece of running gear!
Check out www.runningskirts.com for more great winter running gear!

12/09/2010

Three Things Thursday

1. Amy (http://agiletoes.blogspot.com/) told me about these:

Check these babies out at www.dirtgirlgaiters.com!
I've been looking for gaiters for a while now. With all the trail running and my plan of running a 78K mountain/trail ultramarathon in 2011, I really needed a pair of those. And, yes, I did find several brands that produce trail running specific gaiters. But those are all black. Boring! Not to mention that the gaiters that I found on the internet were pretty pricey.

Imagine my excitement when Amy told me about these! One teeny tiny problem: there are so many great designs on that website! Impossible to pick just one!

2. Slight change of plans for 2011. I originally planned on running several marathons, aiming to PR on all of these and running several trail ultramarathons. Maybe a bit too ambitious. Especially with this bleeping calf strain.
Change of plans:
Swiss Alpine Marathon 78K race pic

I still plan on running all of these races. However, my main priority will be the Swiss Alpine Marathon 78K in July 2011. Every race that takes place in the first half of 2011 will be entered for training purposes only. PRing would be great, but not the main priority. Pfffiewwww. I feel much better just saying that. :)

I truly feel that my body will thank me for this. Not to mention that this approach to 2011's racing schedule will leave me more relaxed and less stressed out.

3. I'm following T's (http://racingwithbabes.blogspot.com/) example: I'm emptying out my closet. Every item that will not be worn in the next 6 months, as well as every item that I am not too crazy about, has to go. Part goes to charity and second hand, but I'm also willing to let everyone around me benefit. So, if you're a size 1 runningskirt and looking for a skirt, check out yesterday's post:

http://sillygirlrunning.blogspot.com/2010/12/wednesday-market.html

Update: both of the skirts are taken! Thanks! :)

12/08/2010

Wednesday market - Runningskirts!

A couple of months ago I purchased these two running skirts from runningskirts.com.

I bought these two babies for a specific race. Me and my outfit were all set, and then the race was cancelled. I've never worn these skirts, and the color/design is just not something I would wear on a training run. Plus winter kicked in in Holland, which means that I won't be wearing any runningskirts until May 2011. And then there will be new designs out. ;)
Ergo, I'm willing to send these skirts to the girl that will wear them and is in love with the design. The skirts are the runningskirt-style (briefs) and a size 1 (wms 0-2). As long as you pay for the shipping costs (about $12 - $15), it's okay with me. Just consider this an early Christmas present...
PS: I'm willing to give them to some one that wants to wear it herself, and not sell it to some one else. That would take away the whole idea behind it. :)
Update: both are taken!

SGR says: this is just a serious case of Vagina Envy

Yep, that's right. Vagina Envy. More specific: Running Skirt envy. Big time!
You won't believe what those silly guys have come up with this time. Seriously, you won't!
Running Kilts!
Again, I'm not kidding! Don't believe me? Check out www.runningkilts.com and the photo below:

Actually I, for one, think this is hilarious. I was laughing out loud while I was browsing their website. They even have a 'Free pattern and sewing instructions' section on their website. Too freakin' funny! The same goes for the 'Testimonials' section!

Well, I guess with all the years of us girls wearing running shorts (and 'stealing' those from the guys), we sort of had this coming. ;) And now I just can't wait till I spot a guy in a running kilt. :)

Do you think that the Running Kilt will ever be the running gear of the moment? And, if you're a guy, would you try one?

I do need options, don't I?

As many of you probably already know, Runningskirts.com (www.runningskirts.com) is one of my favorite brands (right up there with Salomon and The North Face). Very comfortable running gear and great quality. I love their skirts and tees! Basically, every single one of my running outfits has at least one Runningskirts.com item in it.
And now their new Fall/Winter line has launched! Believe me, it's too cute!

As a former sorority girl I think the argyle prints rock! The long sleeves are a great staple item, and the Subzero Jacket is perfect for running in Dutch (cold!!!) weather. Great Fall/Winter line!

There's just one petite downside to this adorable Fall/Winter line. Now you're probably wondering what could possible be 'mwah...not so great' about this line. Well, there is a downside, I tell you:

It will make you max out your credit card. ;)

What is your favorite item from the Runningskirts.com Fall/Winter line?

Twelve for Tuesday: Getting ready for Autumn running - the what to wear edition!

Ran: 2.6 miles (treadmill) + 2.7 miles (road) / 10 km - 60 minutes - easy run

Weather is getting colder in Holland. This week will be OK for this time of year (at least, that's what the weather report says), but Autumn is definitely on its way. And therefore it's time to stock up on Autumn running gear! Yay! Shop 'till you drop, shop 'till you drop! Yeah, yeah, I know, you might be wondering if I don't already have enough running gear bursting out of my closet. Well, ofcourse I have some Autumn ready running gear, but, hey, with a minimum of 35 to 40 miles a week, I can't be wearing the same outfits on and on, can I? ;) See, I really have no choice but to treat myself to some new running gear! :) I haven't made my mind up yet on what to purchase, but just look at these twelve things I love!

1. I already have this cute pale yellow Nike long sleeve in black and the fit is just amazing! Wardrobe staple for autumn!

2. Love the colour and shape of this Adidas one.

3. I'm not really sure about the shiny fabric, but I like the colour and shape of this Nike jacket.

4. Love the colour of this Nike t-shirt!

5. They also have this Nike Long Sleeve in pale blue; I think I like that colour better. Boobieswise the colour is a bit weird on the pink one. But that's just me. ;)

6. Yep, I know, these are shorts. But I kind of like them for muddy autumn Canicross runs with my dogs. No risk of ripping the fabric when I trip and fall face down in the mud. Wouldn't want to ruin my precious runningskirts!

7. I'm in love with this one! This Nike Livestrong jacket is just 'groovy'! Makes me wonder how it fits. Doesn't look like a fitted running jacket.

8, 9, 10, 11 and 12. All from the new RunningSkirts.com fall/winter collection. Love it! Just love it! Does a girl ever have enough runningskirts? ;)

If you could pick just one item from the list of twelve above, which one would it be?
