Three Things Thursday - The 'Is it weird to reward yourself with a handbag - post marathon?' post

1. I registered to be part of the group running in the Wheel of Energy (I'm still awaiting confirmation: I really hope I can join them). The Wheel of Energy is a giant wheel (like the ones used by hamsters) that is set up at Schiphol International Airport (Amsterdam, Netherlands).
Starting October 10th it's moving for 365 days (24/7). The ones that keep it moving are runners. Richard Bottram is the initiator of the Wheel of Energy and hopes, with the Wheel, to get people to raise as much money for Cancer Research as possible, and raise awareness for Cancer as a disease. You can sign up on their website and run in the Wheel of Energy to raise awareness for Cancer. In my opinion Richard Bottram has an amazing thing going here. Great initiative! I would be truly honered to be part of the Wheel of Energy.

2. I'm officially in love with these two Mulberry handbags. Really can't make up my mind on which one is prettier / more practical (I know: a pretty handbag isn't supposed to be practical...). Would it be weird to reward yourself with a handbag for finishing a marathon? ;)

3. I'm in a 'NEW YORK MARATHON IN 9 1/2 WEEKS!' frenzy. Excited, can't wait, driving my co-workers insane, yahdieyah kind of frenzy. Ofcourse this kind of buzz implies I'm Googling 'New York Marathon' at least 20 times a day. Googling my buttocks off I stumbled upon this clip of David Letterman's show (2009's post-marathon show). I've already seen this clip when it aired, but I still think it's extremely funny! By the way, Meb does NOT look like he just won the NYC marathon. He does NOT look at all tired. And I do NOT like him for that. ;) For those of you that haven't already seen the clip, and those of you that have, but don't mind seeing it again, here's the link. Promise, it's funny! :)

Handbag after marathon? Totally ok in my book!

It's NOT weird to reward yourself with a bag. But those are so different - I'm not sure how you're going to decide! The left is more practical, but the right one is sexier, but they're both lovely.

@ Jess and T: Great, now I don't have to feel guilty when I DO decide to reward myself with a too expensive and not practical handbag. ;) And since T thinks that the right one is sexier...I might just have to go with the right one. ;)

heck no you should reward yourself with whatever goodie you like!! I think we all deserve great things and if it's a once in awhile reward all the better

@ Amanda: I like your thinking! ;) However...I plan on running 6 marathons and 2 ultramarathons next year...it might be a bit expensive to reward me with a handbag/shoes/dress after each one. ;) :)

I think you should just get both bags. If you can't make a choice, that just means you're not supposed to make a choice.....;-)

@ Sjoukje: OK, we're definitely on the same page here! :)

I love that wheel on energy! I will hope you get in! So cool.

A handbag (I think I like the left one.), new shoes, heck a vacation. Anything goes after a marathon! It's a big accomplishment.

Yeah! New York Marathon. Bummer that it's not closer to me.

Love the handbags! I'm a collector of them... I've done REALLY well and haven't picked one up in a while. I like the one on the right... but I'd be ok with getting both!

@ Shelly: Hahahaha! Shoes; that seems like a great reward. I've been eyeing a pair of leather boots. Might be the perfect reward. ;)

@ Becka: If you're a collector, it's OK to have lots of them, isn't it? ;)

@ Bethany + Ryan: That picture is taken at the Swiss Alpine Marathon in Switzerland. It was on July 31st, and the most amazing experience! Check out their website: www.swissalpine.ch. :)
