2. Let me have this, alright?: I really don't want to complain or be mean, but seriously...could my co-workers just stop telling me that I'm insane and a bad employee (they honestly said that) for running two marathon in two weeks, or just running at all? The 'your employer would never agree on you running two marathons in just two weeks time' and 'you had a migraine last monday: that must have been because of all the running you've been doing' comments are just making me feel more frustrated by the minute. What the bleep! A. I don't go around talking about running all day: it's the co-workers that can't seem to stop talking about it. B. That migraine is a side-effect of the prescripted meds I need to take for the kidney problems I was born with. And they know that. But still, they have to complain about it. And by the way: you all had the flue, laryngitis, hang-overs, etcetera in the last couple of monts and took sick days because of that: I didn't! C. Am I telling them to stop smoking / stop eating greasy food / start exercising? No, I'm not. So, zip it!
Okay...I'll stop complaining, now...it's just that I feel so...well, frustrated about it...
3. Support your fellow runners!: Katye from Long Legs on the Loose ran the Boston Marathon last Monday. And managed to get a torn calf at mile 11. Ouch! Remember my little NYC Marathon 2010 adventure? Does 'torn calf at mile 8' ring a bell? I know in how much pain she is now and how frustrated she must feel, so, please, go over to her blog and tell her that she's a total rock star and that you're sending healing vibes her way! :)

Oh, poor Katye! I'm sure she loves that you can commiserate with her.
Seriously on number 2? What's with people???
Yikes, those people from work do not sound great! Sorry you have to deal with stuff like that when you should be getting excited again for the next race!
:)
Tell your co-workers to get back to work. Uuuugh that's awful. The worst was when two of my (obese) attendings told me I shouldn't be running because it's going to give me arthritis. I wanted to reply, "well you shouldn't be eating because I can see that THAT's about to give you arthritis." Fortunately, I was able to restrain my mouth.
GOOD LUCK!
I had a co-worker say the following to me, "If I ate as much as you i'd gain weight" I looked down at my pear and cheese and said, "whats wrong with what I'm eating" and she said, "nothing i'd just gain weight if i ate like you. You are always eating" and I said, "well I generally eat things that are healthy for you and the next time you are training for a marathon and burning close to 5000 calories a week then come back and let me know if you gain weight when you eat like me" That shut her up and she apologized the next day and said she was just trying to complement me.
I actually know a runner who got "talked to" because her running stories were "making people uncomfortable" so her boss asked her to stop talking about it. STUPID!
I mean i get that people dont' understand our running, but that doesn't give them the right to be rude or anything less than supportive! i don't have kids and don't walk around saying what the hell were you thinking to anyone that does
I understand what you are saying!!! It used to really annoy me when people gave me a hard time for the amount of racing that I do. What are THEY doing??? Sitting around??
The weather sounds brutal. Hydrate and take it easy... and of course have FUN!
I signed up for the Goofy Challenge and I think that everyone I have told about it (other than running bloggers) has told me I am insane! I realize that people don't get it, but there is no reason to be rude about it (particularly the comments about whether or not your employer should dictate your running schedule)!
Good luck this weekend with marathon #2!
Nice co-workers. Yeah, not. They are all jealous. My employer would have to be paying me a giantic salary before they could tell me what I could or could not do in my personal time. Did those people remember what their mothers (should have) taught them? If you can't say anyting nice then don't say anything at all.
Katye was a determined rock star on Monday. I pray she has a complete healing.
People really need to mind their own business. I hate those type of comments from coworkers.
Good luck!!
Utrecht gaat vele malen beter dan NYCM. Ga lekker genieten en plannen aanpassen aan de hitte! Have fun Christel!!! Jouw hazen doe ik wel als het wat koeler is :)
I am soooooo with you on #2. I feel like people are so judgemental about working out. WTF? I'm gonna live longer and be more productive so just let me be!
Co workers who don't run and complain are a wet rag!
thank you girl! I seriously was thinking about you the whole time! I considered updating my facebook status at one point to read "well...I'm just going to Christel it from this point on" but it wasn't cooperating. And are you SERIOUS about #2? Are they nuts!!! how does that possible effect your work performance...actually they should realize that your running probably makes you more productive! ugh!
Ask them about their sick time and their lifestyle choices - they will stop.
Hey I got a migraine a couple of weeks ago. Maybe it was from running a marathon 6 months ago. Or maybe it was from having a lot of stress at work at that time and working nights and weekends. Honestly, people should think before they talk.
Holy crappy co-workers! You're doing something about your health and well-being. You'll live longer. They won't. Keep doing what you're doing!
Haters gonna hate! They're jealous. They can't run one marathon, much less two!
Sorry your coworkers aren't very supportive! :0/ I don't blame you for being frustrated with them. Good luck with your race! It's coming up fast! :0)
Urgh, how annoying? I'm sorry. ::hugs::
oh.em.ge. seriously? i can't imagine working with people that are that clueless/insensitive/harsh. i'm so sorry that they are not more supportive. good thing you have all of us to cheer you on when everyone else is being douchy.
