Is sucktastic even a word?

Update on The Foot: triple sucktastic. Still hurts. I can stand on it (painfree), but walking and doing single leg raises with my left leg: ouchieouchouch impossible. My PT thinks that The Foot might have been the problem all along. That little sucker might have even caused The Calf and The Knee. Go figure. I already tried to ice it to a point where I felt the next step would be de-frosting it. The numbness was nice for half an hour, but didn't really help after that. I would NOT make a good doctor. Fact.

So, guess what?

I'll be hitting the bikes again. And the pool. For the time being, that is. Luckily, swimming and cycling are my new-found loves. ;) And my 78K schedule does not start till mid February and happens to have a high run/walk-ratio for the weekend long runs (5+ hours on Saturday's and 5+ hours on Sunday's - Yay!). Plus crosstraining makes your body stronger, right? Right?

Also I asked for a second opinion on my foot. And the possible foot/calf/knee thing. Tonight another MD will examine it. I really really want to know what this MD has to say on the foot-subject.

Oh, as a bonus, later today/tomorrow, I'll post a photo of charming me in my cycling shorts with crotch pad. Uhm, I mean 'chamois'.

Did you ever have some kind of foot injury?

Cycling: 30 min Strength training: 45 min Hill work (16% incline) (walking): 17 min

You're right--that's triple sucktastic! I'm so sorry. Do you want to move to the States for a while and water run/swim/bike with me? Misery loves company!

@ MissZippy: At this point, I might even consider that! You're right: misery LOVES company! How's your (sucktastic) ITB doing?

All part of the master plan to change you into "Silly Half Ironman Girl" It will happen. Mark my words! I say by the end of the year.

"Sucktastic" I think that is another Dutch word. But it is much cleaner than "Zaterdag"

@ Kevin: Yet another master plan that I'm completely unaware of. ;) I'll try to mind my language in next posts. ;)

Um, I’m pretty sure that “ouchieouchouch” is not a word but I am truly sorry to hear of your injury.

I suffered from a sore ankle after any run longer than 8-miles and found (after a gait analysis) that my ankle was not the issue and I needed to work on form & strength training. After 3-months of applying what my “gait guru” suggested I am completing my long runs with little (or no) pain.

Glad to hear that you’re spending time on the bike & in the pool. Both of these will maintain your level of fitness AND make you a better runner.

Best of luck with your recovery!!

Take care,

Ron

Sucktastic is totally a word! I use it all the time with a number of other madeup words. :) unforunately, my right ankle is starting to hurt (days before my half marathon, not good!!) So I'm a little worried.

I say it's a word. I'm going to e-mail you my friends sucktastic achilles journey. It's all about one thing causing another thing, what's the true cause, getting multiple opinions, etc.

I have had lots of foot injuries! I had a bone growing off of my big toe up through my big toenail that had to be surgically removed (twice). I had undiagnosable pain under the ball of my foot twice. Once two weeks of rest and a cute prescription blue walking shoe cured it. The second time weeks in a walking boot did the trick. Both MRIs were negative of anything of note. I also have taylor's bunions on both feet (genetic) and since I ran into a pothole December 2009 and sprained everything in my right ankle I've had intermittent ankle pain. Yeah sports!!! :)

Good luck as you recover!!!!

Aww man! Sorry to hear about The Foot. Mine has been bothering me off and on since mid September, but for the most part (cross my fingers) I can still run. I just ice it. A lot. Feel better soon :D

It is the perfect word to describe the situation. So sorry you are dealing with all this pain. I'll be praying that you get a quickly recovered from diagnosis!

Totally a word...

And I always have foot injuries :( I am unlucky enough to have been born with a disability, my right hand side of my body didn't form quite right when I was cooking in my mother's belly.
My right foot is about 2.5 sizes smaller, and my right leg 15mm shorter than my left. Causes all manner of problems, foot fractures (common occurance) knee, shin splints, hips, neck...

Stupid foot.

Sad sucktastic day! Yeah, sucktasticity is definitely real, especially when you were just getting better... but it sounds like you're getting it squared away & you'll be ultra-mountain-running in no time.

Also, you said "crotch pad." Ha ha ha.

@ Ron: Thanks! I did have my shoes altered due to the calf strain, so maybe that changed my gait and caused this...

@ Jamie: Oh no! How's the ankle doing now?

@ Jess: That sucks! Made me realize that feet are nasty little things...but you do kind of need them...
