Do you have anything to add? Any marathon virgin advice that might prevent me from hitting the wall on my first road marathon? ('cause hitting the wall on my first marathon (being a mountain marathon) was pretty obvious...nothing to do about that)
I can't speak to NY specifically, but one thing that really helped me last year is to remember that you will have times where you're going to feel really low. But know that these will pass and then you'll feel good again. It comes in waves--ride the highs, get through the lows! So excited for you!
I agree with MissZ. I'd add. If you every feel like stopping just think "I've got this" - don't stop. Enjoy the thrill of it all. Feed off that crowd! It'll be AMAZING!!
IMPORTANT NOTE: EMZ said “Feel off that crowd” NOT “Feel up that crowd”! This is New York we’re talking about. You could get arrested…or beat up.
But MissZ and EMZ are right (and probably the best coaches you can have…even better than Meb). It’s going to get rough at times. Be prepared for that so that those negative thought don’t take you out. Also, don’t get pulled out too fast too soon…it’s easy to happen to first timers especially in a big race. Stick with your plan and you’ll do awesome. We’re runnin’ NY vicariously through you!
nou ja, niet letterlijk maar het voelt wel goed als iedereen heel hard.. .You're looking Good Christel schreeuw... and jij heel hard terugroep: Liars! :))

@ MissZippy: That's a good one; the mental game! Thanks! :)

@ Emz: Hahaha! Okay, in case I do hit the wall, I'll just try to ignore it. :)

@ Q: Hahahahahaha! You crack me up! :)
@ RunningRonald: 'Het publiek draagt je'. Letterlijk? Dat zou mooi zijn voor die laatste 7 km namelijk...rotheuvels!
