No kidding.

Abandoning skirthood?
I'm a running skirt kind of girl. Plus, it's no secret that I'm a huge fan of the runningskirts.com running skirts. However, I'm open-minded enough to try a different brand once in awhile. And - this time - I'm glad I did! (Not that I'm not a fan of the runningskirts.com products anymore: it's just that I realized that there's more great stuff out there! :)).
So, nope, I'm not abandoning skirthood. ;) But I can't promise you that I won't wear this dress on a huge portion of my long runs. :)
The fit
I send Moeben my measurements (size 2, 5'9''), and I received a size M running dress. According to the Moeben website their size M is a women's 2-4.
The fit is very baggy on me. See photos below. My waistline is somewhere underneath there. So, the first thing that came to mind after putting the dress on, was 'I should have gotten a size S or smaller'. Especially since the runningskirts.com running dress (the only dress I could compare it with) is pretty snug. (Keep reading, though!)
But...when taking the dress for a 10 mile spin (a.k.a. 6 miles on the road, followed by 4 miles of 15% incline hill work on the treadmill), the fit turned out to be ab-so-lu-te-ly perfect. For me, that is. :) I like the shirts I run in to be baggy. I don't like fabric being all icky sticky (that is a word.) around my waist. This running dress is nice and flowy. Loved the fit of it on a run in hot summer weather! :)
The dress has a little pocket on each hip. Will hold up to two Gu packets (but I suck at packing, so you might get more Gu packets into each pocket :)), and Ipod, house keys, etcetera.
Fabric
83% Polyester/17% Spandex. Plus, UV 50 protection. I like that! :) As for prints: I got the camo print. On the Moeben Facebook page I spotted several other prints.
Going commando
Well, obviously this running dress doesn't have built-in panties. I pair them with a pair of Icebreaker performance Pace Hipsters. Match made in heaven. :)
In love?
In love! This dress is everything I had hoped it to be, and more! Plus, Moeben's customer service is amazing. Truly amazing! Huge thumbs up for Moeben!!!

Thanks for the review! Do you know where one can get them in Europe? I did not see the dress on the Moeben site ... but maybe I just did not look in the right places.
I am thinking about ordering a running skirt from your favorite runningskirts.com. But I am lost with sizing with inches etc. Do you know what would the sizing be according to the European sizes - women's 38? Do they size rather big or small?
Thank you so much for your reply and good luck with your shin!!!
I have what I can only assume is a tennis dress I picked up at a thrift store. It has a built in bra, and I LOVE running in it. So comfortable and adorable.
I hate running skirts, because the shorts part is always too short and my thighs rub together. My hips just aren't wide enough to keep my legs apart. hahahha
@Barvorkas: Hi! Thanks for your comment on my blog! :) I got the dress by emailing to sales@moeben.com and shannon@moeben.com. Please tell them I send you. :) As for the runningskirts. I'm a size 34 and wear a size 1 running skirt. With a size 38 I'd go with a size 2 in the running skirts, or maybe a size 3. Depends on if you like a tight fit or a loose fit. Their website has a great sizing chart (under the 'customer services' tab): what is your US size? Google has some sizing tools that convert your size to the US size. :) Good luck! :)
@ Rose: Have you tried the skirts with built-in panties yet? I find those more comfortable than the ones with shorts. :)
Thank you for such a quick reply and reposting it on my blog. You are so cool, definitely following your blog. I guess we have some togetherness in the running craziness :) Thank you for the tip and contacts, I am still not sure about the dress, but will surely go for the skirt, getting one for my best friend as well.
Good luck & happy running! :)
@Barborkas: That's so sweet of you! :) You're a good friend! I'd love a friend that buys me a running skirt as a present. For delivery in Europe you can also try: www.runningskirtsuk.com and www.runningskirts.eu (or www.laufrock.de). Shipping might be faster and less hassle with customs. :)
I honestly would never think of running in a dress but why not? It looks great, and if it's comfortable that's awesome! I'm going to check out their website now, I'm so intrigued!
:)
Je kan zo mee naar de Veluwezoom ;-).
@Vanessa: You'll be surprised! It's actually very comfy. :)
@Rinus: Hahaha! Val niet op in het struikgewas. ;) Aan de andere kant valt het dan ook niet op als ik de helft van de km's op jouw rug meega. ;)
It's a shame with the shin ... but at least blogging about it makes a great reminder to us other runners. One always expects that this cannot happen to you ... Once again, my fingers crossed! :)
On the crazy inspirational note ... you made me thinking about the Swiss Alpine Marathon K42 for 2012 :)
@Barborkas: Way to go!!! :) I'll have you signed up for that one in no-time! :) ;)
Aw, I'm sorry it didn't fit. You are so tiny, girl!
i do love my skirts, but I just haven't gotten on teh dress bandwagon yet... I mean I like the built in liners!
Suh-weet. And the perfect outfit for running when you don’t want to be seen or have those pesky guys honking you and stuff.
